i By Telepnone — "Post" speciai service. , LONDON, Tuesday. The New Zealanders were dismissed yesterday for 196 in their match with Sir Julian Cahn's XI., and when stumps were drawn the home team had lost two wicltets for 78 runs. The match was played in true holiday spirit. A feature of New Zealand's batting was the partnership between Blunt and Weir, who added 99 runs for the third wicket, before Blunt was caught at cover-point in attempting to reach his 50 before lunch. Luck favoured Weir occasionally, but he played attractive cricket for 110 minutes and hit seven fours. The other batsmen failed against the spin bowling of Robins and Richmond, although Matheson batted brightly.

Salmonson, a right-hand mediumpace swing'er, bowled steadily at the start of the match. The home side batted for 85 minutes. Heane was dropped by Cromb in the slips off Matheson when he was one.
