OPPOSiTlON OF EXTREMISTS TO RESTORATION PLAN. ' MELBOURNE, Saturday. The seinousness of the financial position and the increasing opposition of extremists to the restoration plan point according to some political students here to the possibility that before long Australia may have to follow the example of Great Britain and place ber destinies in the hands of a National Emergency Government, states the Sydney Sun's Parliamentary correspondent. The position of the Seullin Government has been rendered extremely difficult by the assembly in Melbourno of the Interstate Labour Conference, which has expressed strong opposition to sections of the Premier^s' Plan relating to reductions in wages and pensions. For the past three days Mr. Seullin, Mr. Theodore and Mr. Parker Moloney have been engaged in a strenuous defence, not only of the actions of the Government in the national emergency but also of their own political futures as members of the Australian Labour Party. From the eonference deliberations emerges the fact that Labour is_divided into several sections in its attitude towards the plan. Mr. Seullin and Mr. Theodore have presented a strong front to the attaclcs, and, although, as seems likely, they will come out of the eonference with some measure of success, the f eeling will rema'in that they have not the complete backing of the Labour movement.
