CANTEEN FUND

use for unemployment relief advocated STRATFORD, Monday. / At a meeting of the Returned Soldiers' Association to-day the following resolution was carried :— "That the Stratford branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association record an emphatic protest against the action of the trustees of the N.Z.E.F. Canteen Fund in refusing to make available durmg the present winter at least £10,000 out of the capital of the fund for the relief of unemployed returned soldiers. In the opinion of this executive it is unlikely that relief will he as necessary in the future as at present. The allocation of £10,000 of the fund would not materially prevent the use of the fund as a last reserve for soldiers who may not he able to obtain benefit from other funds."
