communists fail in attempt to stop men going FIRST THOUSAND SELECTED WELLINGTON, Monday. In furtherance of the relief camps scheme for unemployed single men, 80 men have been allocated to' go from Wellington into camp at Akatarawa, where they will he employed in widening the road between Upper Hutt and Waikanae. No more single men will be sent from Wellington at present. The Unemployment Board states that 1,000 men, with whom it proposed to commence operations, have been sent into camps in various parts of the Dominion. There were 300 aplications in Wellington alone. Twenty men had been selected for Akatarawa camp, but a Communist demonstration was made at 2.15 this afternoon when the men were urged not to go. As soon as the demonstration was over the queue of applicants for camp service reformed,
