SYDNEY, Friday. A violent storm accompanied by a southerly gale swept Sydney early this morning and continued all day. Considerable damage was done in the suburbs and to small harbour craft. Large liners are straining at their anchors and the smaller coastal vessels hqve been driven to shelter. The Manly ferry boats were tossed violently when crossing near the Heads, passengers being thrown off their seats. Wild weather is reported along the South Coast, where a woman was drowned iii a swollen creek. Telegraph sqrvices are disorganised and heavy snow has fallen in parts of south ern New South Wales, impeding railway traffie.
