fine card returned in bogey handicap by wilkie FIRST- AND SECOND ROUNDS The first and second rounds for the Rotorua Golf Club's Veterans' Cup and for the Handicap Tournarftent, ■were played yesterday in chilly and showery weather.- The rain, however, was not heavy enough to affect the course, which was playing well. In the early morning there was a little casual water in some of* the deeper bunkers but this had practicaly dried out by mid-day.

An exeellent score was put up by F. W. Wilkie in the bogey eompetition in the morning when he went out and returned in 39's, making 78 which, with his handicap of Y2 brought his nett sco^e to 66. He was also five up on the Colonel, thus winning the morning bogey match. The winner of the afternoon bogey" competition was W. Maingay who returned all sqnare. There were several other good scores, especially in the morning. Results are as follows: — Veterans' Cup First Round: — -D. MeCormick beat Macknight, 2 up; W. D. Ross beat F. Trice, 2 and 1; C. Redhead beat W. Pavitt, 5 and 4; E. C. Torlesse beat Col. J. Hughes, 2 and 1 ; Fallingay beat F.tRyde, 1 up; E. H. Liddle beat McCosh ClarL 3 and 2; B. A. Wolff beat Hamilton; 4 and 3 ; F. W. Wilkie beat A. L. Humphries, 6 and 4. Second Round: — W. D. Ross beat D. MeCormick, 5 and 4; C. Redhead beat C. E. Torlesse, 1 up; E. H. Liddle beat F. Mingay, 2 up; F. W. Wilkie beat G. A. Wolff, 2 and 1. Handicap Tournannient First Round: — C. Worthington beat C. Gee, 4 and 2 ; H. A. Bown beat T. H. Lowry, 5 and 3; C. W. Palmer beat Hockin, 3 and 1; T. Pavitt beat W. Pittar, 1 up at 19th; J. M. Somerville beat E. C. Banks, 6 and 5; E. Hutchison beat Maingay, 7 and 5; C. Kusabs beat Rev. Speer, 2 and 1. Second Round: — C. Worthington beat H. A. Brown, 3 up; J. Somerville beat T. Pavitt, 1 up; E. Hutchison beat C. Kusabs, 1 up; H. Horton beat C. W. Palmer^ 4 and 3.
