NATIONAL CABINET SAFE RUGBY, August 30. Yesterday's meetings of the three politj.cal parties indicate that the National Government will have a major'ty of at least 50 in the House of Commons. The Conservative and Liberal members were unanimous in their support. The voting strength of the House of Commons is 612- Of this the Government vote comprises: — Conservatives 264 Liberals 55 Labour 67 Libdral Independents 3 Probably six other Independents will vote for the Government, making the total 331. The opposition vote will comprise — Labour : 272 Independents (probably) ...... 9 Total 281 Tlie remaining three members of the House, namely the Speaker and two chairmen of the committee do not vote on divisions.
