At the Tmy Tots Fair held recently m the Devon Street Hall a bag of potatoes from the Horo Horq Development .Farm, presented by the Waiariki Maori Land Board, caused muchvfavourable comment. This, exhibit elearly demonstrates the excellenee of this portion of the district's farm production. Clergy Refresher Course. , Archdpacop F. ,W-i Chatterton has been asked to deliver a series. of ad-: dresse3 to the clergy of the Welung|on Diocese, who meet next Y^ek at Masterton for their annuaL Refresher Course." Competition Winners. Winner^ of competitions in the Tiny Tots Fair, held last Wednesday were: Calculating number of marbles; Misses Myra Rush and Phyllis Parata who ■each estimated the number- as 120, only two short of the corrcct number. As the prize for this event however is a roeking horse, donated by Mr. Tuck, the services, of a Solomon are required tp make the award. Calculating distance. Mrs Knowles (1), 1 month's double ticlcet to the Ma-, jestic Theat're, presented hy Mr Mac, dermott; Master W. Knowles (2), bag of eoal, presented by MivW. L, Richards. Calculating length of string: Miss Lee (1), Miss Clay ' (2), both wipning a free trip by the R.M. Co. Motor Service Calculating number of choeolates: Mr3 Black (1>, child's tricycle, presented by Mr Pratt; Mrs. Urquhart (2), box of choeolates, presented by Mrs Froggatt. Calculating weight of cake: Mrs Simpson, correct weight (1), cake presented , by Mr T. Johnstone. The winner of the cushion presented by the Rotorua Furnishing Company, was Mrs Weckes. Surplus Stores. Tenders were recently called by the Government for purchase of surplus military stares. Mr Burton of the Surplus Stores Co., Christchurch, has just been advised that his company's tender was accepted.*

By the express yesterday morning . the Rotorua . representative . hockey team and supporters left for Auckland where tha team will compete in the tournament starting at 2 p.m. today. Mr C. Casey is manager of the team. Bus Fares Reduced. ' The Rotorua Bus Company announces that on and after to-day, the usual resident concession card, allowing for twelve trips, will be. reduced from twelve rides for 2/6 to twelve rides for 1/-. Good Music Pupils. At the recent practical examination . in connection with -the Royal Academy of Music held at St. Joseph's Convent, Rotorua, the followfng pupils are worthy of special mention;: — Convent Pupils: Piano: Phyllis Parata, distinction; Maurice Russell, distinetion; Florence O'Connor, distinction; Doris Head, distinction. Now that the Ward Baths are completed, it is understood that the Tourist Department proposes a complete. revision of the scale of bath charges at present in operation. A slight increase is proposed in the charges for single baths, but both local residents and visitors will be able to obtain considerable concessions, under a system if 12 bath concession cards. Details of the altered charges will.be. ; announced when the scale is finalised. ,
Racecourse Improvements. The fact that substantial commencement had been made in connection with improvements to Arawa Park racecourse was referred to by the President", Dr. H. Bertram, at the annual meeting of the Club last night. How much further the Club could go, however, the President remarked, would be dependent upon the returns which will be received from the next race meeting. Bogey Foursome Winners. In the handicap bogey matches played on the Rotorua course yesterday, H. Troutbeck and . G. S. Fry, won the foursomes in the morning, being all square on the Colonel, while M. D. Carr and L. B.
