Scoutmaster Wanted.The Rotorua troop of Boy Scouts is at present without a permanent Scoutmaster. . Mr. A. Gordon, a former Scoutmaster, is temporarily fiUing the position until permanent ar-e, rangements can be made. The Bqy Scout Association is anxious to make a permanent appointment, but gentlemen with the necessary qualifications, which preferably include experience of Scout work, who also haye the time at their disposal, are not easy to find. The value of the Scout movement as a means of trainihg boys in good citizenship is so widely recognised that the Association is hopeful of finding a man willing to volunteer for the onerous position and the president, Mr. J. R. Alexander, or the secretary, Mr. J, Boord, will weleome offers or suggestions in Doctor's Opportune Presence. The value of having a doctor on the football field was demonstrated pn Saturday during the representative match between Rotorua and Te Puke, at Te Puke, for the Parata Cup. W. Young, a Rotorua player, had his collarbone dislocated during the game, and Dr. Randall, of Te Puke, 'who was present, worked for about a quarter of an hour on the injury and put the bone back into place. To Be Re-built. The owners interested' are having plans prepared for the re-erection of the block of Taupo business premises recently destroyed by fire. Littles Fluctuation. There has been very little fluctuation in the number of unemployed registrations for the Rotorua district during the past two weeks. The total registered last week was 341, and this week's figures are expected to remain about the same level, Motor Collision. A collision between a service car and a motor lorry occurred on the Rotorua- Whakatane road on Monday afternoon. Both vehicles were considerably damaged, but although the car was carrying six passengers, none of the occupants were injured. The service car was bound from. Rotorua to Whakatane, and the lorry was proceeding in the opposite direction. Hockey Visitors. The Ruahine ladies hockey team arrived by motor from Dannevirke at 6.30 p.m. yesterday. Billets have. been provided for them at Lake House, Queensland House, Armidale House, Hamilton House, Commonwealth House, and privately. The visitors were the guests of Mr. Arch. Macdermott at the Majestie Theatre last evening and the Rotorua Ladies' Hockey Association will this evening entertain them at a dance in the Majestie ballroom. Record Trip. A record time fro|m Auckland to Rotorua by road was put up yesterday by a Remuera motorist, who covered the. journey of 159 miles in 3 hours 40 minutes, or an average. of over 40 m.p.h The usual service car time for the trip is between 5i and 6 hours. Rugby Match Postponed. The Rugby football match between Rotorua and Tauranga, fixed for Saturday next at Arawa Park, has unfortunately had to be postponed, Tauranga being unable to raise a team. A number of their se-nior players received injuries last Sunday and, in consequence, the Tauranga SubUnion has asked that the match be postponed until later in th-e season. This has come as a great disappointment to the Rotorua players as well '

as to the f ollowers of ' Rugby in Rotorua as a m'eeting between the Rotorua and Tauranga Suh-Unions has been eagerly anticipated. The representative match with Putaruru, originally set down for Saturday, Septamber 5, will now be played on Saturday next by arrangement with Putaruru, The match will be played at Arawa Park on No. 1 ground at 3 p.m. Other qxtures for Saturday remain unaltered. Interesting Golf. Great interest was taken yesterday afternoon in the golf match between Arden Bott, a seratch player from England, and J. Goss, a one handicap man of Wanganui. A number of enthusiasts followed the game, "showing considerable interest in the standard of play shown.

The "Post" yesterday received the fbllowing telegram frojm Mr. Mc'r Cormick, editor of the "Stratford Evening Post" : — "Con,gratulations on your new production, which is a distinct credit to Rotorua and a tribute to the enterprise of its proprietors." Farmers' Union. A vigorous effort is being made to re-vitalise Farmers' Union activities in the Rotorua district, and to that end a meeting will be held to-night at Ngongotaha, when Mr. D. B. Higgins, president of the Matamata braneh of the Union, and Mr. T. F. Jolly, Union area officer, will deal with various asjfects of the Union's activities Impioved Pasture. The spell of mild weather which has been experienced during the past fortnight, has had a beneficial effect upon pastures in the Rotorua district and farmers are now anticipating a good season. The growth of grass engendered by the milder weather has had a beneficial effect on cows now coming into profit. ' Hockey Tournament Team. The players selected to represent Rotorua in the Dominion Hocky Tourney at Auckland,- are instructed to assemble at the railway station not later than 9.30 to-morrow morning. /
