PALMERSTON NORTH MURDEH STILL UNSOLVED, RUMOUR DENIED. There are no further developments in the Palmerston North murder mystery, and the police are still searching for the slayer of Edwin John Blakeway, the young railway clerk who was found shot . early on Monday morning. A rumour was current that a.man had been detained in conn'bction with- the crime but this is denied.

By ielephone^ — 'Post" Special Service. PALMERSTON N., Wednesday, The police are making searching investigations concerning the nature of the gun from which the bullets were fired. It isjearned to-day that there had come into possession of deceased a letter threatening to kill him. The police have -been proseeuting a vigorous search for this letter, but it is not known if they have been successful. Two persons at least are known to have seen deceased cycle to the side of the road shortly after 11 o'clock on the night of the tragedy. A certain development is held strongly to support that -the motive was robbery. When the deceased was found his overeoat was fastened, with the exception o'f one button at the neck. It is considered impossible for him to have crawled after being shot, into the position where. he was found. One report states that bloodstains were found on the lining of each -of the dead man's pockets. There is strong reason to believe that the shots were fired from a revolver. ,
