CARE OF SILVER
The daily care of silver is muoh more important than the • thorough cleaning which it receives at stated intervals. Table silver should be washed as soon as possible after it has been used. If possible, use a wooden or papier-mache bowl for the purpose, so as to avoid scratching. Use hot -water; with a few drops of ammonia and melted soap to .make a nice lather. Rub it with a piece of flannel, rinse in clear hot water, and dry with a'soft towel while the silver is still warm. This is an important point if good results are wanted, for. •if allowed to lie wet it is difficult to remove the water marks. When dry, give each article a good ruh-up with a chamois leather, and then put away neatly in a silver basket, drawer, ete-. ■Egg spoons that (have tbecome stainetf should be rubbed with a little salt before being washed. Teapots should be thoroughly dried inslde and outside and left moist.
