ADJOURNMENT OF HOUSE ' POSSIBLE.

WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The House of Representatives met for a few minutes only to-day. In answer to a question the Prime Minister, the Right Hon. G. W. Forbes, said it was impossible to say how long the inter-party committee would sit./ At the commencement of such an inquiry it was difficult to get a proper understanding as what evidence should be taken or what procedure should be followed. Mr. Forbes mentioned the possibility of the committee deciding to recommend that the House adjourn for "a period, but ipembers would be acquainted with any such decision in good time.
