MARTON DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.,
The ordinary meeting of the Committee of the above School was held on Tuesday evening. There was a poor attendance and very little business was transacted.
The headmaster reported that the attendance was not as good as might he expected on account of sickness and unfavouarhle weather prevailing A large number of pupils attend excellently, being both punctual and regular, and parents seem to Work well with the teachers in trying to secure as good an attendance as possible. Pupils‘are busy preparing to do their part in connection with the Fancy Pair next month, and no doubt their efforts will he as successful as on other occasions. During the month Messrs Kalaugher and Hadfield, agricultural and technical instructors from Auckland, visited the Sopool and made an inspection of the work clone by the pupils about the gounds. It was resolved that in the opinion of this Committee the present, system of staffing of schools on the average attendance instead of on the total roll number is not in the best interests of educational work.
