NEW GERMAN DEVICE.

A FOUR-LEGGED BOMB.

LEFT BY RUNAWAYS

Australian and N.Z. Canie Association. Received August 23, 10 a.m. London, August 33. J|Th£ Morning Post’s correspondent at headquarters of the Anzacs describes a new device of German frightfniness called a tortoise, a creepy looking thing witn four legs which is left lying on the parapets or trenches or other handy places when the Germans run. It is really a high explosive bomb, bursting on the slightest touch. At first i caused a number of casualties in the darkness, but the men have now learned to deal with it successfully as with other German tricks.

It is noteworthy that little has been seen lately of liquid fire.
