TROUT TAKEN OUT OF SEASON

Timaru, Aug. 21

Three men and a youth were charged at Pairlie to-day with.taking trout out of season from Lake Alexandrine, in Mackenzie-Country, last month, and also with taking trout by illegal means (the gaff). The party went to the lake in a car, and the Society’s ranger came on them on the way, and with other members of the Society waylaid them when returning with a considerable catch. The Magistrate, Mr Day, dismissed the. charge against the youth and fined each man £3 on each charge, with costs, which on three cases totalled £lO.
