THE NAVAL MEETING.

THE GERMANS RAN.

DID NOT REQUIRE A BATTLE.

United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—CopyrigbJ.^^^

United Service. Received Aug. 33, noon. London, Aug. 21. The Pall Mall Gazette states that Admiral Jellicoe, with a considerable force got fairly close to the enemy, but as soon as they encountered our patrol screens the Germans turned tail and ran for port. The Germans did not seek battle but a bulletin in the Evening Standard suggests that it was an attempt to lure Jellicoe into a nest of torpedoes.
