SPEECH BY MR LLOYD GEORGE.
THE ENEMY IN THE NIPPERS. A WARNING TO KINGS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received Aug. 21, 9.5 a.m. London, Aug. 20. Mr Lloyd George, speaking at Criccieth, said he was satisfied with the way things were going. He felt for the first time in three years that the nippers were gripping and we would soon hear the crack, when we should be able to extract the kernel. The vigour of our demands would be proportionate to the extent of the sacrifices made by Great Britain. We must have a complete and unchallenged victory that shall be a warning to Kings and their Counsellors of the recKoning demanded by civilised nations tor their outrages. Let us have done with war now and forever. POLISH AUTONOMY, CLASHING STATEMENTS. London, August 19. It is reported from OoJogne that the Central Powers have decided not to commit themselves to any statement regarding the future of Poland at present, owing to the intricate war situation.
Amsterdam, August 19. A Berlin telegram says that Von Besler, Governor General of Warsaw, announced that Auslro-Ger-many has agreed to recognise Polish autonomy.
