THE GO-SIOWER A THIEF. STRIKING BECOMES A HABIT. Received Ang. 19, 10.45 a.m. Sydney, Aug. 19. Justice Heydon has fixed the living wage at 55s 6d. Hitherto it has been 52s 6d. He said that one of the alleged cases of the increased cost of living was the go-slow policy. The slow worker taxed the community to enable him to become a lazy thief. If it were proved that this sabotage was responsible the Court would not grant increased wages. Referring to strikes he said they become engrained. like a bad habit here. During the last three years they had the State over two millions. NEW ZEALAND TROOPS IN SYDNEY. ENTHUSIASTICALLY G RESTED Received Aug. 19, 10.45a.m! Sydney, Aug. 19;The State Commandant inspected the New Zealand Mounted Rifles. They were enthusiastically received, their fine appearance impressing the onlookers. SUPERTAX REJECTED, Sydney, Aug. 18. The Leglisative Council negatived the proposed supertax on land holdings suitable for closer settlement.
