RONGOTEA.

From Our Own Correspondent. The Rongotea Co-operative Dai*y Company are paying one Is Shipper lb tor bntter fat for last month. The weather record for last month, July 81st, as taken at onr local school, was as follows:—Rain fell on IB days, the total fall for the month being 2.58 inches. The heaviest rainfall was on the 23ud and 23rd, when .58 inches fell. The many friends of Mr M. Walsh will regret to learn that be is still lying seriously ill, and showing no sign of improvement. The monthly meeting of the School Commttee was held on Monday last. Present: Messrs J. R. McCall (chairman), A. P. Landers, A J. Sinclair, R.Major, R. A, Callander, and P. Kine (head teacher). The head master’s report was read as follows: —During the month two were admitted and live, left, the roll number at the end of the month being 122. The average attendance was only 93.J5, or 76 pe,r cent of average roll. Miss Half, assistant relieving teacher, commenced duties on August Bth. One small account was passed for payment. Mr R. A. Callander, was elected secretary of the committee, vice Mr A. J. Sinclair resigned through pressure of business. Several minor repairs were authorised to be done at the school during, the month. Messrs R. M. Matheson and R. Major were appointed a visiting committee. Master Carl Wright has received an appointment on the New Zealand railways staff, and commenced duties last week at Waverley.

There is a movement on foot to form a Young Girls 1 Anzac Club, and the intention is to hold a series of entertainments to raise funds for the sick and wounded soldiers.

The secretary, Mr J. W. Hamlin, has everything connection with the sixth annual bulb show at Rongotea, to be held in September, well in hand. In connection with the show a utility, poultry show will be held, Which is a new departure, and should prove another attractive item for the district folk.
