HUNTERVILLE NOTES.

From Our Own Correspondent. | The sum of £2 10s was raised towards the Red Cross Funds at a patriotic party given on Saturday last by Mr and Mrs B. A. Cox., “Drysdale’/ Station House, Pukeroa. Cards and games were played dur-. jng the evening, and supper was served at 10 o’clock. The most en jioyable .evening was brought to a close at midnight. In spite of the wet and cold weather prevailing on Tuesday—sale day—the Pakihikufa and Rewa ladies did good business, at the Red Cress Shop, when the sum of £23 3s 4d was raised. The weight of-the ham was guessed by Mr George Morris, of Marton, while Mrs Healy, Poukiore, and Mrs Alex. Reid, Argyle Hotel, tied for the cake The picture was won by Mrs Robert Craig, but was generously handed back, and later bought by Mr L. T. McLean, Rewa. Next sale day, 29th inst,, being the third in the mouth, will be made a special day at the Red Cross Shop, which will be conducted by the ladies of the .Hunterville Countess of Liverpool Fund and Red i Cross Guild. As tins is to be made j a special day for the benefit or tbe | New Zealand boys who are still in | Egypt it is hoped that the public | wil! respond as liberally as possible. •
