FRENCH SUCCESSES.
MANY PRISONERS TAKEN. , Paris, A tig. 14. Trustworthy advices report that the French have taken 2000 iiuwounded prisoners and 70 machine guns since the 6th, northward of the Somme principally, their advance culminating in the seizure of up* wards of half of Maurepas. They also took prisoner 600 at Yaux Ohapitro and Chenois Woods. WEATHER AT THE FRONT. IMPOSES DIFFICULTIES. ARTILLERY active. Paris, Aug. 14. A communique says: Bad weather hampered operations on most of the front. An artillery duel continues. SIR DOUGLAS HAIG’S REPORT. NO CHANGE OF LINE. Reuter. London, Aug. 14. Sir Douglas Haig reports: The situation is unchanged on the whole British front. There has been the usual artillery lire and bombing raids and much successful aerial work.
