CAPTURE OF SEVERAL TRENCHES. THE POSITION UNCHANGED. London, Aug. 12. Sir Douglas Haig reports: Southeast of Ypres the enemy’s infantry of a newly-arrived corps attempted to leave their trenches, but were frustrated. The position elsewhere is unchanged. Paris, Aug. 12. A communique says: We captured several trenches northwards of Somme and established a new line southward from Maurapas to Hem. We captured a strongly fortified quarry northward of Hera Wood, also two woods. We attacked the third German position on a Q}4 kilometres front eastward of Hafdecourt and Buscourt, ou'the Somme. Our infantry look all the, trenches and various strongly organised s.;'w«rks to a depth of from 600 to 1000 metres. We seized the southern portion of Maurepas and the cemetery and established new lines on the southern slope of Hill 100 along the Manrepas-Ulery road and the ridge to the westward of Clerv.

ZEPPELIN SHEDS BOMBED. TWO MACHINES MISSING. London, Aug. 12. Sir Douglas Haig reports: Aviators recently successfully raided Zeppelin sheds at Brussels and railway sidings and stations at Mons, Namur Bnsigny arid COurtrai, also airship sheds at Namur. Out of sixty-eight machines engaged in the raids, two are missing. ENEMY’S LOSSES ON THE SOMME. Times. ° London, Ang. 12. A Munich message states that,the Bavariandosses on trie Somme for July totalled 14,500 killed, 67, 000 wounded and 4000 missing. ENEMY ATTACKS REPULSED. London, Ang. 12. Sir Douglas Haig reports: The enemy renewed their efforts to recapture the trenches north of Pozieres, hut were repulsed with heavy losses. They did not pierce our positions anywhere, Paris, Aug. 12. A communique says: After a violent bombardment the enemy attacked Maisonnette, but were caught in our curtain of fire and fell back. We progressed south of Thiaumont work.

Two enemy night attacks on Flenry were completely repulsed.
