MR HUGHES’ IMPDRTANT STATEMENT. ND CONCENTRATES FOR GERMANY BRITAIN’S SENSIBLE RESOLVE. Received August 11, noon. Melbourne, August 11. At his reception by the Metal Exchange, Mr Hughes said tho British Government had agreed to take for ten years after the war a hundred thousand tons of Australian concentrates. They will also advance half amillion to establish electrolytic and spelter works. Arrangements had been made hy which France. Britain and Belgium will absorb all concentrates produced here. Britain intended to make it impossible for a recurrence of out industrial vassalage to Germany.
