ADDINGTON MARKET. ■ : Per Press Association. Christchurch, Aug* 9. The market at Addington was a double one on account of-tire Grand National holidays next week. Entries of fat stock were very large. Among the entries were a number of specially prime cattle and sheep, including a number of prize takers at leading shows in Otago and Southland. Two bullocks. _ rnol'idinCT the champion at the last- Otago Summer anu Winter Shows, were sold on account of Mr Simon Wnght of Balolutha, at the record puce ot £65 each, the previous record being £8 10a. Eat cattle sold well, and fat lambs made last week’s prices. There was a strong demand for pigs. A purebred Tamworth sow, estimated to weigh over 6001b5., was sold on behalf of Mr H. Stuart, of Middleton, at £2O. . St very firm, and special lots brought high prices. Mr P. Bull s Shropshire cross wetherS sold up to £l4 15s. or within 5s of their record of two years ago. The Otago sheep sold up to £8 10s, and a Hawke a Bay line up to £3. ~ Store sheep: Ewe hoggets 19s id to 23s 6d, wether hoggdts 17s 10d to 22s Bd, mixed hoggets 17s Id to- 19s lOd, 2 tooth ewes to 389 9d, 6 and 8 tooth ewes 27s 3d, s.m. ewes 34s Id to 27s 3d, aged ewes 16s to 17s 3d, 2 and 4 tooth wethers 33s lOd to 27s 3d, 4, 6 and 8 tooth wethers 255. Pat lambs: Prime 25s to 355, medium 23s 6d to 24s 6d, lighter 15s 6d to 225, new season’s lambs 20s to 80s. Fat sheep: Show wethers £l4 10s, ®xtra prime wethers 50s, prime wethers 30s to 40s, others 24s 6d, to 29s 6d, merino wethers 19s 9d to 34s extra prime ewes 455, prime ewes 28s to 395, medium ewes 25a to 275-6 d, others 22s to 24s 3d, show hoggets 625. Fat cattle: Extra’.prime steers to £65, prime steers £35, ordinary steers £lO to £l2 10s, prime heifers £l4 12s 6d, ordinary heifers £7 12s : _0d to £l2, prime cows £l6 10s, ordinary cowsf=£B to £lO, store cattle. 15 to 18 months £3 2s 6d to £4 10s, '2 year steers £5 to £5 12s 6d, 2 year heifers £4 7s 6d to £4 15s, dry cows £3 to £B, dairy cows, best £ls to £l9 19s, others £3 10s to £l4. Pigs': Extra prime Tamworth chopper £2O, choppers £4 to £6 17s 6d, baconers £3 5s to £5 6s, equal to 7d per lb. , porkers 45s to 05s, equal to 9d and per db., large stores 40s 6d, medium 30s to 38s, smaller 22s to 295, baconers 18s to 235.
