HOCKEY.

A team, representing Feilding High School Old Girls, visited Marton on Saturday to try conclusions with the local ladies’ team. Favoured with a perfect day, though the ground was somewhat slippery, & fast and open game resulted in a win for Feildiug by 5 goals to nil. Tbe visitors had a fine dashing forward line, four of whom, Misses V. Irwin, M. Mayo, G. Bowater (3). and R. Younger, found the net. These were backed up fay safe halves, bat the back division seemed weak, and had the Marton forwards not lacked combination and been frequently out of ttjair places, some goals might have been scored by them. Miss Ireland got home once, but was penalised for off side. Miss Gordon, in goal, cleared repeatedly and filled the position well. Mr Johnson controlled the game. After the match tbe visiting team were entertained at afternoon tea at Niool’a refreshment rooms.
