HORSESHOE DRAINAGE BOARD.
The monthly meeting was held yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs Hunt (chairman), Thompson and Dalton. The Chairman reported on the terms arranged lor dissolution of the two Boards, and the formation of a new Board to take over the assets and liabilities of both. The question of taking in more country would have to be dealt with by the new Board. It was stated that the water outlets of those not in the drainage district could be blocked. Mr Doughty attended and asked that the drains leading the water off the. frontages of his sections he cleaned out, about 15 chains in ail. The matter was deferred until next month. It was decided to also hold over the cleaning out of Campbell drain until some of the rates, about to be struck, have been collected, the overdraft having reached £l9O. It was resolved to give notice of striking a rate of 8-l6d on the firstolass, on the second, and 2-8 d in the £ on the third-class laud. Mr Tfoung attended to request extra payment for cleaning ont a longer length of Thompson’s drain than had been specified in his coatraot, and two chains of Willow drain. —He'was granted 19s on both. The Overseer was empowered to let a continuation of Willow drain at !ls 3d. \
