Maiden Hurdles, 1% miles.—Oymri 1, Leo 2, Heathen 3. Scratched: Stayboy, Bully, Carlyle, and Urania. The winner was in front at the last fence, and stalling off a strong challenge by Leo, won by a head. Time, 3miu 25sec. Great Northern Hurdles. 2% miles.—Bully 1, Irish 2, Waipu 3. Scratched : Kairoma and Newtown. Irish made all the running till three fnrlongs from home, when Bully got on terms, and leading Irish over the iast jump won by two lengths. Time, 4min 55sec. The Otaki Maori Racing Club’s Winter Meeting was opened in dnil weather. The attendance was good. Fifteen bookmakers were licensed and the sum of £9874 passed through the totalisator against £10,086 for the corresponding day of last -year. Results:—
Flying Hack, six furlongs.—Te Kahnrangi 1. Pukewai 2, Te Rn 3. Scratched : Fnkarn. The winner led throughout and won by half a head. Otaki Hack Hurdles, 1% miles.— Tauira 1, Rendiock 2, Diplomatic 3. Scratched; Anratns, Rangihaeta, Aptea, and Yosami. Won by six lengths. Rankawa Cup, miles. —Sir Tristram 1, Kopu 2, Mahuta 3| Roosevelt and Effort led for a mile, but at the turn gave way to Sir Tristram, who won comfortably by a length and a half. Otaki Hack Handicap, one mile.--Ooronetted 1, King Post 2, Mallet 8. Scratched : North Bast, Gold Bird, Llanwern, "and Awha. Won by a head.

RangiurnJHandicap, six furlongs. Gipsy Belle 1, Snnbonnet 2, Overtime 3. Also started: Ballarat, Wpodhey, Waikaraka, Iranoi, Seaman, Simplex, Toa Tnhi, Pohutu, Mataari, and Nicotine. The winner got the best of a straggling start, led throughout, and won comfortably by two lengths. Time, Imin 15^sec, Birthday Welter, 7 furlongs.— Pikopo 1, Waipunni 2, Twinkle 3. Also started: Gold Bird, Oastiglinoe, Maggie Paul and Black Pearl. Pikopo and Waipnnui singled out from the field, the former winning by a neck. Time, Imin 30seo.

FIRST DAY. Dunedin, Jane 3. The Dunedin Jockey Olnb’s Winter Meeting was opened to-day in fine weather. The attendance was very large.
