BLLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.

The weather was fine for training operations at Ellerslie this morning, but a heavy fog hung over the course before breakfast, making it impossible to pick up the discs. Scotty and Ngapuka covered 7 furlongs oa the grass in linin 33sec. Wanchcpe did a mile on the sand m Imin's2sec. Irish went two rounds on the sand assisted by Caryls over the first, and by Armagh over • the last. The Northern candidate was with both, running the journey of nearly two miles and a quarter ‘in 4mm l*see. It was a great gallop, but unfortunately Irish was very tender in the front after pulling up. A large number of others also worked after breakfast. Santa Rosa beat Waimangu over 7 furlongs on the gfass in Imin Slsec. Starboard did five furlongs on the same track in Imin Bseo. First Gun beat Miscast over a furlong further in Imin 20seo, Dawn, Reservoir and Waipn were together at the end of a round oa the grass in Smin 3sec. Lord Rcse berry was a length in front of Waihuka at the end of a mile on the grass in Imin 49seo. Stay bay did two rounds on the grass at three-quarter pace. Newton beat Ouiraguo over one round on the grass in Imin oSsee. Irish Rifle did 6 furlongs oa the grass in Imin 24seo. Leo jnpmed the hurdles on the course proper, fencing well, Sol jumped a couple of hurdles and then coursed round the grass with Ruminator. Belarlo, Waione and Kairoma started for a mile and three-quarters over the hurdles on the course proper. The last named fell at the third hurdle and afterwards was slightly lame. The other two fenced fairly well. Ben Johnson jumped three hurdles in good style. Capitol, Red McGregor and Nestator went a round cf the steeplechase course, going over the hill, the first-named easily beating his companion, Nesiatar falling at the first fence of the double. Mawhiti, Te Kainui, Tanglefoot and Ronseabout did a similar task, all jumping well Le Beau and Kiatere did the same journey, Te Arai joining In at the old water jump. The two fenced well, Le Beau pleasing moat. Mangamahl alone did a like journey. A large number of others also exercised. Paritutu was not on the course this morning but may work this afternoon.
Don *Hannibal was purchased by Mr W. Lyon and is to be shipped to Sydney next month.
