Following is the High Commissioner’s cablegram, dated London, 29th May The mutton market is very dull There has not been the slightest improvement and trade is very disappointing, there being only a very hand-to-mouth demands. .Stocks on hand are heavy and widely distributed amongst agents who are pushing sales. Canterbury brands range according to quality from 3>£d to 2>£d and North Island from 2%il to l%d. There is a good demand for prime quality lamb, but a slight fall in prices all round. Canterbury brands range according to quality from 4%d to 4d, other than Canterbury to B%d. The beef market is steady and there is good demand for all descriptions. New Zeaalnd binds 3j£d, fores 2%d. / The butter market is dull, but as the weather is mote favourable there is less demand. Choicest New Zealand is quoted at 104 s, Danish 113 s, Siberian 100 a.

The cheese market is quiet, but firm. Canadian supplies are increasing. New Zealand white 655, coloured 675. *

The hemp market is quiet and small business is doing. Holders are firm. New Zealand good fair on spot £33, New Zealand fair grade on spot £3l 10s. Fair current Manila on spot £33. May-Julj shipments of New Zeaalnd good fair grade per ton £33 15s, New Zealand fair grade per ton £3l 10d, fair current Manila £2210s, The Manila output was 35,000 bales. The cocksfoot seed market Is dull and buyers are not keen to do business. Quotations are nominal. The average price of bright clean New Zealand seed 171 b per bushel on spot is about 56s per owt. The wheat market is slightly weaker, with less demand, bat no change in prices. New Zealand longberried wheat on spot ex granary?per qnarter of 4yßlbs, 46a 6d; shortberried do. 45s 6d.

The oats market is steady with very good demand. The bsans and peas market is firm. The wool market remains firm.
