THE NEW COALITION
United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Melbourne, May 31.
Mr Fisher will wait on Lord Dudley to-day and asb for a] dissolution. Opinion in political circles is that the request will be refused.
Mr Cook states that the coalition compromise provides for no interference with the protectionist policy of present Customs tariff except in rectifying tariff anomalies and as regards the new protection will make no serious encroachment upon the rights of the States, which will control their own industrial affairs. The fiscal compromise will cover this and next Parliament. Mr Reid is convinced of the wisdom and patritism of the coalition.
