Messrs Deakin and Oook conferred as to the possibility of a coalition against Mr Fisher. At the conclusion Mr Deakin announced that all he could say was that the situation was dearer after their talk. Speaking at the Lord Mayor’s banquet prior to the Conference, Mr Deakin declared that it was the duty of every man to endeavour to redeuce the present unstable position of Federal politics to stability. There required to be'two parties only to give effect to the constitution. To organise it fairly and establish two parties was the great task before them at the present moment. No effort would bo wanting Jon his part to bring about a legitimate state of Parliamentary business.
