DAIRY WORKERS.
The Arbitration Court has made an award in connection with the dairy workers’ fdispute. A copy of the award was filed yesterday :with the Clerk of Awards (Mr A. Stubbs). The main points are Honrs not to exceed. 70 hours per week of Seven days, exclusive of meal honrs; hours in to be arranged between employers and workers. Wages in hotter and cheese factories—-Where only one adult worker, other than manager, is employed, not less than £3 a week; three £adult workers, first £2 10s; second £2 6s, third £2; other bands, not including youths. £1 17a 6d; engine-driver, £3 where first-class certificate is required. Wages of creamery managers, not less than £3 a week, witn firewood, milk, and suitable living accommodation. Youths, from 16 to 18, £1 a week; from 18 to 20, £1 10a a week. Every worker who shall have worked for not less than eight mouths' during the same year for the same employer shall receive 14 days’ holiday on fnli pay; holidays of proportionate duration to be given according to length of time of work.
Piecework shall not be allowed, but employers are entitled to have work done by contract The awdrd shall come into force mi 31 st May, 1909, and continue in force until 31st March, 1910.
