MANGAWEKA.

From Our Own Correspondent. A friendly match was fired off between the Te Kapua and Mangaweka Rifle Clubs on Wednesday, at tbe local butts, resulting in a victory for the Mangaweka men by • 2S points. The scoring sheet shows: —

In the evening (Mr Tansey in the chair) the election of officers resulted Patron, J. Georgetti, Esq.; vice-presidents, Messrs O. H. Humphrey, A. Dalziell," son.; M. Tansey, and D. Monro; captain, R. B. Turnbull; secretary, R. Johnston; auditor, D. Munro; vice-captains, J. Green and J. Carr; handlcappers, V. Qreenaido and J. Moon; committee, all office-bearers and J. Dorm.

Hearty votes of thanks were passed to all donors ot trophies for the halfyearly shoot, and to Mr. Dalziell for use, of the range. The following committee was appointed to make arrangements for the 1 annual ball: — Dr. Turubnl), R. Johnston, J. Donn, O. H. Humphrey and M. Tansey. The exact date of the ball will ha decided on later. Three hinds and two stags were liberated on Mr A. Dalziell’s Kawatau property on Wednesday afternoon, under the supervision of Mr R. Downing, of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society. Tka deer seem to be extremely quiet and in very good condition. Their fatnr© home is an ideal place, being on the slopes of the Roahine ranges at the head of the Kawatau.
