RAPID CABLING.
FIVE HUNDRED WORDS A MINUTE. Per Press Association. Wellington, April 23, In regard to rapid cabling, the Premier has received a letter from Mr J. H. Heaton stating that there were font great inventors who had proved in his presence that they could send 50U words in place of 30 words a minute over the cables. The Premier remarked that the news was most reassuring, for it removed the great obstacle in the way of cheapening cable communication, namely the capacity of the cables.
