THE BRITISH NAVY.

United Press Association.— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.

London, April 15,

Mr Churchill, in a letter to his constituents, states that in ships, men and guns, Britain’s superiority to Germany is overwhelming, and any colonial Dreadnoughts will be additional to the British programme. The Admiralty is prepared to prove that Britain in 191 S will be effectively euperiof, to the tw* next European Powers. The “Two-Power standard is now devoid of meaning. It would be absurd to build against the United States. The panic was due to sheer cowardice, based on stupid and vicious errors. There was no antagonism to Britain in Germany, but only commercial rivalry, and therefore it was the duty of men of light and leading to discountenance a spirit of distrust.

The Chronicle, in commenting on the letter, says; “Poor Mr Asquith has some reputation for clear thinking and lucid expression, yet his young colleague characterises his workable formula as a vicious and stupid error.”
