The Clerk of Awards has received the judgment of .the Arbitration Court in the case Inspector of Awards (applicant) versus John Whittaker (respondent). The case was brought for the purpose of, obtaining a decision by the Court on the question whether, under the Wellington Carpenters (country employers) award, an under rate permit could be granted to a workman who had not served his apprenticeship. Judge Sim held that any bona fide worker in the industry was entitled to apply for an under rate permit, although he might not have served an apprenticeship.
