METHODIST CHURCH, SANSON.

The anniversary services of Sanson Metnodist Church were held on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. The fisnal tea meeting was held on the Friday. A large number of friends attended, the tables being filled three or four times. Mr R. W. Bishop, senior trustee and local preacher, presided over the subsequent meeting. The church was well filled. Mr J. Anderson, the church treasurer, gave his report, which showed a debit balance of about £lB, caused by recent improvements, viz., painting the church inside and out. The treasurer said this would probably be removed on the coming Sunday. Speeches were given by the chairman, and Revs. Cossmn and MoNiooll. Mr McNicoll, who is leaving the circuit and becoming a supernumerary after 4 1 years ministerial work, took the opportunity to say good-bye to his friends in the circuit. He also commended his successor, the Rev. -G. Frost, to the congregation and solicited for him their hearty cooperation. During the evening the choir, assisted by some of the Rongotea friends and conducted by Mr James A’Oonrt, rendered five anthems in a very creditable manner. The usual votes of thanks, proposed by Mr Thos. Masters, brought a capital meeting to a close. Rev. O. E. Beeoroft preached the’anniversary sermons on Easter Sunday, but the heavy downpour of rain reduced the congregations very considerably. The stewards consequently decided to postpone the “gift” Sunday and make the financial effort next Sunday, when the new minister, the Rev. Q. Frost, will be present. The quarterly meeting of the Sandon circuit was held in Sanson on Good Friday afternoon'. The Rev. D. McNicoll presided, and nine office-bearers were also present. The circuit income exceeded the expenditure by about £25. This was largely the result of three very successful garden parties held at Mr J Sanson’s, Glen Oroua; Mr Penny’s, Carnarvon; and Mrs Hammond’s, Waitohi. These efforts produced over £4O. A very hearty vote of thanks was passed to the three friends who had so greatly helped the finances of the circuit. This being Mr McNiooll’s last meeting, a vote of thanks was passed and presented to him for his services during the last two years.
