COLLAPSE OF A BUILDING.
TWO MEN KILLED AND MANY INJURED. Received April 14, 9.30 a.m. Melbourne, April 14. During a heavy squall a large two-storied frame building in course of construction for the Oriental Timber Company, Geelong, collapsed. Fourteen out of 30 men employed on the building, the majority of whom were working on the roof, were injured. Two, Qleeson and Nicholson, have succumbed, and ten others have been taken to the hospital. The condition of three of them is serions. Just prior to the collapse the foreman decided that it was too dangerous to continue work owing to the high wind, and ordered the men to cease work. They were engaged in making everything secure when the crack came. A number of men on the ground floor had a miraculous escape, as the toppling structure was blown right over them without injuring them. There was much difficulty in rescuing the injured, who were jammed among the debris.
