HORSESHOE DRAINAGE BOARD.
At a meeting of above, yesterday the members present were: Messrs Hunt (chairman;, Dalton, Lowe, Mudford and .Thompson.
A letter was received from the solicitor of Sluggish River Boprd, advising that a contract amounting to about £4BOO has been let for improving tbe Main Drain, and reqnesfcing Horseshoe Board to make the necessary arrangements to meet half the expenditure. “The Clerk was instructed to ask for a copy of specifications for the work. , ~ Contracts were let as follows: Harper’s Drain to J; Duke at 10a per chain; Sanson, Hunts, Rnhvoldt’s, and Sklenar’a to A. Duke at Is 3d per chain; Goodwin s to Webb at Is 2d per chain; Campbell’s extension, Webb at Is oa, Milne’s to D. Young at 3s 3d, Richmond’s to Phillips at Is Sd. It was decided to allow Mr Dalton Is 6d per chain for clearing drain through his property, to allow Mr Collins Is ,3d for clearing dram through his, but the Board refused to sanction the cutting of a new drain. The Overseer was directed to inspect drains running through Ehrhorn’a and Darragb’s property and authorised to let the clearing. Resolved, that the vote for improving Leen’s drain be increased to £l2, providing work is carried out to satisfaction of Board’s engineer, and that P. Grnmwald be allowed is 6d per chain for cleaning out 11 chains of Bnsh drain.
