STOCK REPORT. Messrs Abraham & Williams report on Palmerston 1 ' gale -Thursday a full yarding of sheep, principally aged breeding ewes, met rather a dragging sale. Several _ lines of good f.r.m. ewes met with keen competition, and realised good prices. The yarding of cattle was smaller/ than usual, and consisted chiefly of female stock, for which the demand was not particularly good. . Quotations -Big framed good coikiitioned aged ewes 10s 7d to 11s Id, f.f.m. ewes 9s Id to 10s 6d, f.m. ewes 6s fid to Bs, aged ewes 5s to 7s, onl! ewes 3a to 4a 6d, lambs 5s 9d to 6s 6d, 4-tootb wethers 10s 3d, 2-tooth ewes ,12s 7d, Romney -rams 15s to £l, light fat cows £4 ss, forward cows £2 8a to £3 ss, store cows 35s to I£2 6s, empty 2-year heifers 38s, bulls £3 7s 6d to £4 12s 6d, weaner steers 15s. Messrs Dalgety & 00., Ltd., report At Palmerston sale Thursday there was a heavy yarding of sheep, but small entry of cattle, and prices ruled as follows Small lambs 4s to 5s 6d, rap a lambs 6s 9d fco 7s, small mixed 2-Edotha to Bs, a.m. ewea 7a to 9a lid, 6-tooth and f.f.m. ewea 11s to 12a, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 10s, mixed weaners Bs, forward empty cows to £2.
Messrs Gorton & Son report prices at their Feilding sale as follows; Good breeding ewes 10s 6d to 11s, sound -mouthed ewes 6s 2d, 7s Id to 8s 2d, 2-tooth ewe 11s, 2-tooth culled wethers 6a 6d, 2-tooth wethers 9s 2d, cull ewes 4s to 4a 7d, small lambs 5s 3d to 6s 9d, forward ewes 7s 9d, fat ewes 9s 2d, Southdown rams £4 4s. Cattle: 4-vear-old good forward bullocks £5 14a, light empty cows £3 8s 6(1 to £3 J6s. fat cows £4 2s 6d to £4 6a, yearlings 20s to 22s 6cl, 18-montbs empty heifers 31a. Messrs Dalgety & Co, report the following prices at their Feilding sale yesterday :—Woolly lambs 6s 4d, 2-tooth ewes 9s 9d, s.m. ewes 9s sd, English Leicester rams 10s 6d to 19s, Southdown rams to Sghs, 15months heifers 235. Messrs Dalgety & Co. reportAt special sale of surplus stock atKarioi we yarded 9200 sheep. There was _a good attendance, buyers from Waikato and other districts being present. The sheep on the whole were yarded in good order. Competition was quiet under the hammer, but we succeeded in selling a good proportion of the entry. One buyer’s purchases go to Fiji. We quote : Six tooth f.f.m. ewes 9s 3d to 9a lid, 4 and 5 year ewes 7s 6d to 8s 4d, 4 and 5 year halfbred ewes 5s 6d. 2 tooth wethers 9s 6d to 10s, 2 tooth ewes 11s 6d, old ewes 4s 3d to ss, oull lambs 2s, Romney rams 20s to 21s. We quote ; Rape lambs 7s 6d to 7s 9d, others 4s 9d, 5s to 6s 4d, cull wethers 8s 6d to 9s, small 2-tooth ewes 11s 6d, f.m. ewes 6s 9d to 7s; fat cows £4 to £4 9s 6d, dairy cows £6 10s, 18-months steers 23a, 30s, to £2 3s, bulls £1 7s 6d. New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report for week ending March 19th :—At Apiti, on Tuesday, we had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle, A better tone prevailed and we quitted the hulk of the entry at the; following rates.g Two-tooth ewes to 12s 6d, 4tooth ewes small 12s 9d to ,13s Id, woolly lambs 8a sd, shorn lambs to 7s 6d, 2-tootb wethers small 9s sd, f.m. ewes to 9s, call ewes 4s 7d to 5s 6d, fat and forward cows £3 5s to £3 10s, store cows 30s, forward cows £2 17s 6d to £3, springing heifers £3 5s to £4 Is, yearling steers 89s, weaner steers 20s, %%-year steers £3 ss. Sundries at late rates. At Feilding, on Friday, wo yarded just on 3500 sheep and 100 head of cattle. Bidding at auction was not brisk, but business was done and very little went out unsold. A good demand exists for good quality breeding ewes, but inferior qualities are neglected. We quote:—Sheep: Coll lambs 2s 3d, medium lambs ss, forward rape lambs 7s, onlLewes 2s 7d to 3s lid, aged ewes 4s od to 6a sd, f.m, ewes 8s to 8s Id, s.m. ewes 9s 9d to 10a 6d, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 12s, 2 and 4tootii wethers 9s 6d. Cattle: Store cows £2, aged cows 22s 6d, fat and forward cows £3 Is, springing heifers £4, year empty heifers £2 12s, fat heifers £2 3s, 20-month steers £2 2s, 2%-year steers £3 10s to £3 15s.
Messrs Dalgety & 00. report :—At our Marton sale on Tuesday, the 16th insd.. only a small entry of sheep came forward, when the following prices were realised :—Oull ewes 4s to 4s 4d, mixed age ewes 6s 4d to 7s 2d, rape lambs to 7s lOd, Romney rams Ign, Lincoln rams Ign. WOOL SALES. Messrs Murray, Roberta & Co. have received cabled advice from their London agents, Messrs Sanderson, Murray & 00., dated 16th insfe., that the third series of wool pales, commencing on the 4th May, have been limited to 150,000 bales, new arrivals.
