WAIMARINO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of above was held on Saturday eyening, when there were present: Ora. Brass (chairman), Dickson, Richardson and Dauphin. CORRESPONDENCE.
From f. Receiver Land Revenue, stating " that 18s 2d. hypothecated thirds, accrued to27thnit., had been placed to County’s credit.—Received. Prom Treasury, with reference to £IBOO loan for Orauabukuru Road; loan had been provisionally approved, so that tbe necessary steps could be taken. The money would be available after March 81 st.
From Rangitikei County Council re Council’s share of expense in connection with tbe labourers’ dispose.—Resolved that amount oe sent. From Charitable Aid Board, re County valuation for rating purposes.— Replied to by Clerk. . Prom A. Douglas, rates for hire of team for odd jobs. From Izard and Webster, for Ohaknne Land do., in regard to subdivision and reading of Dobb’s Estate.—Received, From Raetihi business people, requesting that St. Patrick’s Day be observed as a whole holiday in place of Thursday, the usual haltholiday. -rAlteration to be advertised. It was resolved to arrange for bank overdraft to meet necessary payments. It was resolved— That (dr. Dickson—Chairman) engineer supply Mr Dawson, bridge engineer, with map of Orantohi bridge site, and ask him for estimate of cost of erection df suspension bridge. That (Ors. Punch—Dauphin) specifications submitted of the reading of the Dohh’s Estate be approved of, and bond accepted in terms of Company’s letter. That Or. Punch and the Engineer he deputed to inspect work of contract 56, Mangatete Road, and authorise any alteration. The Engineer was instructed to act re Mr H. Riley’s contract. Or. Dauphin thought the specification of guage. metal was unnecessarily small for road contracts, and put Council to a lot of extra expense. Or, Punch said that all metalling contracts shonld he out of hand'after March and that day labour should he discontinued for the winter. Or. Dauphin brought up the matter of the town lights and the engineer was instructed to secure the services of a man to attend to lighting same. The Engineer reported on works in hand and completed.—The report was adopted. Council then rose.
