FIRE BRIGADES DEMONSTRATION.
Per Press Association. Auckland, March 12. Visiting fire brigades were entertained at an excursion to Motntapu yesterday. There was an interesting sports progtamme. Results:— 100 Yards Fire Brigade Championship. : Bates, Lower Hunt, 1. 75 Yards Handicap, 45 years and over: A. Boon, New Plymouth 1; H. Rose, Petone, 3. Maiden Handicap, 75 yards: L. Ashworth, Napier, 1; R. Ainsley 3, E. Hayward, Kaiapoi, 3. Relay Race, team of four men, each man to run 100 yards: Wanganui 1, Hokitika 2. Auckland, March 13. The United Fire Briagde Competitions continued to-day. Light rain fell at intervals. In the coupling event two men, Timaru won in 34 2-sseo; Wanganui, 34 4-sseo, 3; Dannevirke, 35sec, 3; Masterton, 35 l-sseo, 4. After running off a tie with Eastown Railway for fifth and sixth places for the Shield points Dunedin broke the New Zealand record, putting up a grand run m 31 4-sseo.
