FOLDING TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

Last night was held the first meeting of the new Feildiug Technical School Committee, Mr F. Piraui in the chair. Mr E. Gocdbahere was re-elected chairman, The Director reported that 63 pupils had enrolled, the classes for bookkeeping 20, English and arithmetic 25. and t>pc writing 13. were filling up the host. No application had been made'for entry in the cooking class. The pupils in the wood* work class ar Apiti had offered .to inaae benches for their own use and present them to the school Oniv one person had attended the meeting called at Halcombe. At Halcombe, Apiti and Pohangina classes were being formed. A letter was received from the Education Board, stating that Miss Grant would be available as instructor for afternoon cookery class for girls and suggesting that the fee bo 7s 6d or 10s for the term. From the members of the plumbing class, asking that the fee ba reduced to £1 Is as it was last year. £1 5s is the proposed fee.—The Director stated that they also objected to the course Messrs Bramwell, Carty, Pirani and Goodbehere were appointed to meet the members of the class, and it was decided to ask the master plumbers to attend. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Oarty that the Mauawatu. Orooa. Kiwitea and Pohangina Ccnntv Councils be asked to renew tueir contributions. Mr Trim, Pohangina representative, stated that many promises had been made in his district of contributions towards the cost of erecting a room for a technical school under the understanding that the contributions would be subsidisad. It was resolved that the Director and Mr Trim obtain the aid of the Chief Inspector and the member for the district with a view of waiting upon the Minister of Edueatlioa for a grant towards the cost of a school at Pohangina. It was decided that the ordinary meetings be on the second Tuesday in each mouth, the nest meeting to be on the third Tuesday,
