BOWLING.
PALMERSTON v. MARTON. Yesterday sixteen Martou bowlers went to Palmerston to play their return match. The day was ideal for bowling and the green was in good playing order. Palmerston was represented by its strongest players and Marton played with the best men available. Two of the visiting rinks were successful, but it may be mentioned that Marton should have won three games out of four, but for an unfortunate mistake made by Mr McEJdowney who was skipping one of the rinks. Ho was one point up on the 20th head and in the last head his men placed three good shots near the jack,' all of which counted. The Palmerston skip failed to alter the position and the game stood with Martou 4 uoints ahead. Mistaking the position of the bowls, Mr MoEidowuey sent his last bowl down with a drive, and hitting the jack gave his oponents three points, ,and Palmerston thus won with two up. Mr Nash’s rink had a day out against Mr Sharpe’s team and won easily by 33 to 13. The result of this game gave Palmerston a fair margin ou the aggregate, the totals being 83 against 67 points. The visitors were well entertained and thoroughly enjoyed the day’s outing. Scores: PALMERSTON. MARTON. Malcolm J. G. Blackwell Hodgins R. H. Carey • Tasker G. Duck j Young (skp) 16 H.
