: New York, December 25. Mayor McClellan has revoked the licences of all the moving-picture theatres in the city, numbering 550, ■ and declares that New York is “moving-picture mad.” Many clergymen have complained to the mayor that this class of entertainment is demoralising boys and girls. All the vacant shops in the business sections of Now York are being transformed Into theatres, with an admission;fee of 2)£d to sd, for a moving-picture performance, lasting from forty minutes to an honr and a half. The theatres are open continuously from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m., and the ' views are changed daily. It is estimated that 250,000 persona witness these performances daily, the majority being children. Many children frequent the theatres day after day, and a number have stolen money from their homes in order to obtain admission. -
