HASTINGS BAND CONTEST.

Hasting, February 23
The Hastings North Island Brass Bands Association’s contest opened at Hastings last night', when the open quartette competition “Rienzi” was decided and resulted as follows : Wanganui Garrison Band No. 1 (84 points) first; Hastings Town Band, 70, second; Wanganui Garrison Band No. 2, 65, third. This morning the B flat trombone solo came up for decision. The judge awarded points as follows ; Walling, Petoue, 85; . Trownsou, Wanganui, 78; Findlay/ Newtown, 76. '
