NAPIER WOOL SALES. Per Press Association Napier, February 17. The third ami last of the season’s wool sales was held at Napier to-day, when in spite of the Auckland sale being fixed for the same time, there was a large attendance of local and outside buyers. The total catalogued was 6070 bales, an increase of 8718 on the number offered at the third sale last year. Superior lota were eagerly competed for, and prices obtained for them compared favourably with those of the January sales. The bulk of the wool, however, was not of this class, and there was no American competition, wool suitable for that market not being in evidence. Prices were in keeping with the quality and did not indicate any downward tendency in the market for the principal lines. Prices Tanged as follows Fine crossbred to 9d, medium to B%d, coarse to 7%d, good lambs’ wool to B%d, extra to 10%d, inferior to 6d, pieces to 6d.
