M.UDI AND PAPARABHI MATCHED. A matel) for £IOO . between Maidi and Ptiparaehi, ever two miles, has been arranged to take place on February 15th. Weights 9at. Maidi is an aged roan mare by Handsome Jack—Baby, owned by Mr W. Giesen ana trained by H. Jackson at Feildiug. As a four-year-old she won a Scarry at the Feilding Easter meeting, and next season she won a hack hurdle race at the Foxton meeting, but last season she started eight times without gaining a winning bracket, though she was second on a couple of occasions. Her present owner bought her just prior to the Rangi tikei Racing Club’s Summer Meeting, where she won the Hack Huidle race on both days, hut she was distanced for the first day’s race on account of ajeross. The week before last she was in excellent form at Pahiatua, and easily accounted for the opposition in the hurdle race on both days. Paparaehi is a five-year-old black gelding, by Papakura, owned by Mr &. Jackman, and trained by A. Attwood, at Feilding. He was unplaced in his solitary start as a three-year-old, and won once out of three starts as a foor-year-oid. This season he won the Hack Hurdle Race on each day of the Rangitikei Spring Meeting in September, and the following month be beat Maboe and Lyrist in the open hurdle race on the second day of the Trentham Meeting. He is usually ridden by W. Young. As matches of this description are rare occurrences nowadays, the event is sure to excite keen interest.
