ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Press Association. Dunedin, February 7. A farmer named Charles Adam Mason, aged 65 years and residing at Puerua, died suddenly yesterday, falling dead while engaged milking a cow. His wife was standing talking to him at the time. Deceased had not been attended by a doctor for years, but lately suffered from shortness of breath; Heart disease is supposed to be the cause of death. Christchurch, February 7. At the inquest on the body of Henry Skinner, a verdict of! death from heart failure was returned. About noon to-day, Agness Florence Adams, 37 years of age, whose mental condition was somewhat affected, and who was staying at a cottage at Redcliffs, near Sumner, threw herself into the tide during the temporary absence of the person in whose charge she wasThe body was subsequently reooverd from the estuary. 'At the inquest, it Was stated that deceased had fixed delusions of spirits coming and taking her away and this morning it was found that deceased had been chewing wax matches. An emetic was administered, and whilst a doctor was being telephoned for deceased disappeared. The Coroner returned a verdict that deceased drowned herself whilst in an unsound state of mind. Auckland, February 8. ' While George Taylor, tram conductor, was backing his car at a stopping place on a single line of rails to allow another car to pass, and was leaning over the back of the car, pulling down the trolley pole, the rope broke. Taylor fell on the road, sustaining terrible injuries to his head, apparently involving fracture base of the skull.
