Per Press Association. Wellington, February 5. At the Supremo Court to-day sentence on E. J. Searl, who was found guilty on a charge of forgery was deferred. Norman Fraser, alias Brazier, charged with theft of beer, was found guilty and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. E. J. Senile, who was yesterday convicted o£ forgery, was further remanded for sentence till next Wednesday, the probation officers to report in the meantime. Joseph Delich, alias Dante, was convicted of stealing a bicycle and sentenced to 18 mouths’ hard labour, John Peohngin and Steven Niohelseu, young men, pleaded not guilty to a charge of assaulting a Chinaman in Wellington. The case was not concluded when the Court rose. Auckland, February 5. An action arising ont of a fire which occurred at Mount Roskill on November 9th was begun before Mr Justice Edwards at the Supreme Court to-day. Tin plaintiff in the action was Sidney Harold Darrach, a confectionery manufacturer, who claimed £IOSO damages from Alfred Bridgman, a storekeeper, for alleged negligence in leaving a burning dust heap alongside his factory, and§thus, the plaintiff claimed, causing the factory to be burnt down.
